Walkfest 2015 and Guildford Summer Festival

Part of the Guildford Summer Festival, Walkfest is a series of guided walks for people of all ages and levels of fitness, once again this year Bevan Wilson are sponsoring the event and here’s why….

The health benefits of walking cannot be overstated, you need very little in the way of specialist equipment and in most cases it’s absolutely FREE.

Of course, the physical benefits are obvious as walking improves cardio-vascular fitness, reduces the risk of Type II Diabetes, improves mobility and muscle strength, reduces cholesterol and lessens the risk of Osteoporosis.

Then there are the benefits to mental health and wellbeing, you will sleep better and wake up happier and studies show that physical activity such as walking can relieve anxiety, boost brainpower and even improve your memory.

The Walkfest event runs until July 26th and includes town centre and countryside walks exploring everything from Alice in Wonderland to Gunpowder and there is even a special walk celebrating the life of Alan Turing featuring tableau and scenes from his time in Guildford.

For more information about the walks please visit www.guildford.gov.uk/walkfest. We will be attending most of the events and it would be great to see you there!
